Atlanta radio host Darian Morgan, aka “Big Tigger,” shoved his wife, sending her flying headfirst into a door, arrest warrants say.
According to an affidavit, obtained by Channel 2 Action News, Morgan and his wife, Alicia Brown, were in an argument over text messages he had received from a female co-worker.
Brown told police that the two colleagues had been texting each other for a couple of weeks. When Brown questioned her husband about the texts, he raised his voice at her. “You’re psycho,” Morgan allegedly told Brown.
Brown said Morgan then pulled out his phone and began recording her. When she grabbed the phone from his hand, he tackled her to the floor in their bedroom to get the phone back.
Brown told police she went down to the basement office of their Sandy Springs, Georgia home, which is where they both work remotely. She said Morgan followed her downstairs.
“I will show you psycho,” Brown yelled at Morgan as she unplugged a computer from the wall, the affidavit said. “I helped purchase this equipment for the two of us.”
Brown said Morgan approached her from behind, grabbed her arms, and told her to stop. She told Morgan to “leave me alone and take your hands off me.” Morgan then “used force to move the victim and shoved the victim, causing the victim to stumble headfirst into an office door,” according to the affidavit.
Brown suffered a facial laceration and a black eye. The domestic incident was caught on a Ring camera.
She went to an urgent care clinic in Dunwoody, where police were called to take a report. She was then transported to Grady Memorial Hospital because of the severity of the laceration that required multiple stitches.
According to Channel 2 Action News, Brown initially feared telling police about Morgan, because she “was afraid of what he might do to me, and because he is a well-known celebrity and nobody would believe me.”
Morgan denied the allegations in a video during his Big Tigger Morning Show on June 12. “I want to say categorically – categorically that these allegations and accusations that have been circulating about me are false, untrue, not happening, didn’t happen,” he said.
After investigating the incident, Sandy Springs police arrested Morgan on Saturday, June 20, and charged him with aggravated 3rd-degree battery and child cruelty because the couple’s son was at home and witnessed the incident.
The popular radio host was released on $10,000 bond the same day.
In addition to hosting the morning show on V-103, Morgan is the resident DJ at Atlanta Falcons games and the PA announcer at Atlanta Hawks games.
