Two people are in custody after they climbed to the top of the Empire State Building antenna in New York City to get engaged.

NYPD officers climbed up the spire and arrested Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus just before 1 p.m., according to CNN affiliate WABC.

The trespassers, who were wearing masks and dressed in all black, had a banner that read: “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”

Ivan proposed to Angela and they hugged and kissed as a news chopper captured the bizarre scene. Angela took pictures of her massive engagement ring and posted the images on her Instagram page.

The couple released a Netflix documentary called “Skywalkers: A Love Story” in 2024.

The incident happened as the city deals with large crowds for the World Cup, the Fourth of July weekend, and the wedding of pop star Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
